Genesis Magma Racing is heading to the World Endurance Championship starting in 2026.
Genesis Magma Racing will race its GMR-001 under the LMDh regulations.
This is the first time the GMR-001’s V8 fired up inside its chassis.
Genesis Magma Racing is giving us all an update on their racing project—it’s apparently on schedule. The team has brought the turbocharged V8 alive inside the chassis of its GMR-001 racing machine.
Scheduled to join the World Endurance Championship in 2026, the Genesis Magma Racing’s aptly named GMR-001 race car is starting to take shape. As you can see in the video below, this V8 powerplant is ready to run.
While just firing off the engine inside the chassis is important, it would be almost a waste of an entire race team’s time to just make a short video. Instead, the team was actually doing work and performed important tests on the car’s hybrid charging system and ran through the gears of the seven-speed transmission.
Still, there’s more testing to take place later this year when the GMR-001 actually hits the track. Judging by Genesis’s efforts in documenting this engine’s first start, there will probably be some insights into the GMR-001’s further testing efforts.
