[1] 1 dead, 1 injured after shooting in Bernalillo – Bernalillo Police Chief Chris Stoyell said the a shooting happened at Rotary Park in Bernalillo. The first call came in about 8:39 p.m. Two people were shot. One person died, the other was taken to the hospital with injuries. The Town of Bernalillo Police Department Police Chief issued a shelter-in-place order for residents east of the Rio Grande late Monday night. That shelter in place was lifted late Monday night.

[2] More info released on timeline of UNM dorm shooting – Investigators say around 1:30 a.m. Friday, UNM Police responded to an alarm at Mesa Vista Hall, finding broken windows and blood. Another red flag came an hour later when UNM Hospital called the police, saying a 19-year-old said he was shot somewhere on campus but wouldn’t say where. Shortly after, between 2:30 and 3 a.m. investigators say UNM Police were sweeping nearby buildings, including the Casa Del Rio dorms. That’s when officers found 14-year-old Michael Lamotte shot to death inside a room in the Gila Building, with no other witnesses to the shooting around. State police say they ID’d John Fuentes as the suspect between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and arrested him in Los Lunas by 2:30 p.m.

[3] Active weather continues through the week – It will be cloudier day today with increased monsoon moisture. This afternoon storms will first develop across the mountain peaks. More showers and storms will develop this afternoon with nearly all of New Mexico having a chance of rain and thunderstorms. Rain will likely stick around parts of central New Mexico overnight before clearing up Wednesday morning.

[4] Ordinance would relax rules for Safe Outdoor Spaces in Albuquerque – The City of Albuquerque is supporting a proposed ordinance, relaxing the rules to set up sanctioned encampments known as Safe Outdoor Spaces. The proposal would give operators more latitude to define their own security needs. Other changes would relax the requirement for permanent, 24/7 bathrooms and showers, instead allowing alternatives like mobile trailers.

[5] New Mexico launches online educator career hub – The New Mexico Public Education Department is streamlining the process for those who are looking to launch their teaching career. The department launched a new online career hub called TEACHNewMexico.org. The website offers free career tools, personalized guidance from current educators and up to $100 off application costs. It also guides uses through applying for financial aid, the licensure process and testing and educator preparation programs across the state.
