Dodge Endorses Street Takeovers In Deleted Instagram Post

Dodge has angered countless enthusiasts by joking about street takeovers in a now-deleted Instagram post. Never before have we seen an automaker even reference illegal street takeovers on social media or anywhere else. It’s such a toxic topic, there’s no wonder why.

Watch police in California chase down and PIT out a stolen Dodge Charger.

The recent Instagram post was a series of photos citing supposed reasons why marriage is scary. We guess it was designed to appeal to lonely “alpha male” types who at the drop of a hat can enumerate exponentially why they don’t have a significant other.

While most of the images in the post were at best mildly entertaining, the final one was the spicy meatball. It read “Marriage is scary, because what if they don’t like street takeovers.” Not only was it unfunny, the joke was incredibly tone-deaf.

Immediately, people took to the comments to roast Dodge for promoting the illegal street takeovers which have plagued cities from coast to coast since the fiery, but mostly peaceful protests of 2020.

After all, plenty of people have felt the sting of traffic being jammed up in their city, cars stolen and trashed as kids shoot off fireworks and even turn some vehicles into rolling infernos. It’s like Louis Vuitton making a joke about looters breaking into its stores during riots.

Maybe Dodge can make a joke about car theft next?

We’d love to think it was just some Gen Z social media intern who made the street takeover joke, but we’re afraid it goes much higher than that. And it’s indicative of the types of problems which have been allowed to metastasize inside Dodge, resulting in a weak model lineup and countless other issues.

Street takeovers aren’t funny. People have been killed during them, including some innocent bystanders who just happened upon the events at the wrong time. While Dodge deleted the post, it’s tried to act like the whole thing never happened.

Man up, Dodge. Apologize for the thoughtless post. Don’t make excuses or ignore the problem; acknowledge what you did wrong and then do better.
