New Jersey parents should stop using this safety gate right now; it could injure your baby

Parents of newborns and toddlers often turn to baby gates to prevent their child from entering or exiting an established area, but one baby gate brand could possibly do more harm than good.

And with more than 60,000 children are injured every year by faulty nursery products including safety gates, parents in New Jersey and elsewhere need to know about this latest recall of child safety gates.

Which baby safety gate is being recalled?

The U.S. Consumer Product and Safety Commission pushed an alert cautioning parents against buying and using Livacti-branded retractable baby gates.

The recalled retractable safety mesh gates were made available in black, gray and white, and have the model number LT-BG01-3.

The recalled retractable baby gate has an iron frame, stands 34 inches high and has a retractable width of over ten feet.

The problem could wind up seriously injuring your child, or worse.

"The recalled gates violate the mandatory standard for expansion gates and expandable enclosures because a child’s torso can fit through the opening between the gate and the floor," read the CPSC's recall alert, "posing a risk of serious injury or death due to entrapment."

The recalled retraceable baby gates were sold online through Amazon between December 2024 and April 2025. The recalled retractable baby gates were sold between $55 and $75.

The China-made recalled retractable baby gates were imported by Lichang E-Commerce, and sold by Shenzhen Yiqiyuan Technology Co. Ltd. and Shenzhen Yanyan Network Co. Ltd.

What you should do with your recalled retractable baby gate

If you own one of the recalled retractable baby gates, the U.S. Consumer Product and Safety Commission advises you to completely destroy the gate by cutting through the mesh.

Once you have destroyed the gate, you will need to take a picture and email it to  [email protected] to receive a full refund. You can also visit the Livacti recall website for more information.
