Two injured after plane makes emergency landing in Missouri cornfield

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Two people have minor injuries after a small plane made an emergency landing Tuesday afternoon in Johnson County, Missouri.

Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after 4:45 p.m. on reports of a possible plane crash north of Centerview, according to the Johnson County Fire Protection District JCFPD.

The fire department reports the single-engine aircraft was found about 200 yards off NW 501 Road near the Blackwater River.

The two people on the plane, a flight instructor and a student pilot, are reported to have minor injuries. One was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

JCFPD said the flight originated from the Lee’s Summit area and experienced an engine failure, forcing it to make an emergency landing.

The FAA has been notified and is investigating.
