It's that time of year again: former Rack Room Shoes, Hobby Lobby, Party City, Sears, Bealls, Joann Fabrics, Big Lots, Dollar Stores and a variety of other empty chain store strip mall locations across the state will be getting spooky — and it isn't just the creepiness of an empty storefront. Spirit Halloween is back!

You might think August is too early to start thinking about scary costumes and decor, but the iconic Halloween-themed chain already opened some of its locations. There will be almost 100 locations across Florida.

Here's when Spirit Halloween opens and a list of Florida locations for 2025.

What months of the year is Spirit Halloween open?

Brick-and-mortar Spirit Halloween stores start opening in August. Some have even been reported to open as early as July. Many in Florida are already open for the 2025 Halloween season.

Most stores usually close within the first week of November, but "die-hard Halloween enthusiasts" also can shop online year-round.
