BATON ROUGE, La. (KTAL/KMSS) – A change is coming to the way Louisianans cast their absentee votes.

Secretary of State Nancy Landry announced on Wednesday that absentee voting envelopes have been redesigned and will be used for the upcoming October 11 elections. Anyone who has already requested an absentee ballot will notice changes in the envelopes when they receive them.

“Our redesigned absentee ballot envelopes come with larger print and easier-to-read instructions,” Secretary Landry said. “These envelopes will ensure that voters more clearly understand how to vote absentee-by-mail while maintaining the stringent election security measures Louisiana deserves and expects.”

The Secretary of State’s Office has created a video that residents are encouraged to watch, explaining the changes and how to fill in the form. Voters with questions about the new ballots should contact the Secretary of State’s Elections Division at 800.883.2805 or their parish Registrar of Voters Office.
