A semi-truck laden with forty thousand pounds of ribeye steaks caught fire while traveling down an interstate in Missouri. Sadly, the meat onboard was lost after the trailer was consumed by the blaze, cooking the ribeyes so they were well done and then some.
Two influencers almost became roadkill while they were eating inside a restaurant.
The awful scene unfolded on eastbound Interstate 44 in western Phelps County, Missouri during the early morning hours of August 18. The Doolittle Rural Fire Protection District was dispatched to the blaze, finding the trailer was detached and about half consumed upon their arrival.
So they could properly fight the fire, the agency had to shut down the interstate in both directions, causing backups.
Despite the awful nature of the disaster, the Doolittle Rural Fire Protection District seems to be in high spirits. After posting about the ribeye steak fire on social media, it revealed that the only vegan on the staff responded to the fire, her first one, and it just happened to involve a bunch of meat.
We have to wonder if at least some of the steaks were salvageable, especially with a little bit of A1 sauce and a side of vegetables. At the very least, the fire had to smell great for a bit as all that meat was cooking on the side of the road, until the steaks started burning.
This isn’t the first time we’ve covered the senseless loss of perfectly good meat. We’ve actually highlighted three different meat heists, as well as semis loaded with seafood, pistachios, and Nintendo Switches being stolen.
But in a way this hurts more. After all, the ribeyes are just lost, not being sold on the black market for cheap, so it’s a total waste.
