(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Hurricane Erin continues to churn northward with winds of 110 mph, and large waves lashing the Outer Banks. Minor storm surge and Tropical Storm Force Winds are expected this evening through the overnight hours.

Hurricane Erin grows in size, expected to impact eastern North Carolina

Back here in the central Carolinas, sinking air at the edge of Erin has helped quell any shower chances for the most part for the rest of the week. Generally dry and warm weather is expected over the weekend until another front with little rain arrives later in the day Monday giving us some Fall-like humidity for the middle of the week.

Tonight and into Thursday, while the Outer Banks deals with some of the impacts from Erin, in the central Carolinas, isolated showers and storms are expected this evening in the mountains this evening with lows approaching 70.

Thursday we are expecting more warmth and humidity along with an isolated shower or storm possible in the afternoon with highs in the upper 80s. If you’re planning on heading to the final Panthers final preseason game, expect warm weather with a possible storm in the evening.

Heading into the weekend, more dry and seasonably warm weather is expected for the region as temperatures continue to stay in the upper 80s with partly cloudy skies.

We should see a little drop in humidity making it feel somewhat more comfortable to be outside in the sun. Monday, we are expecting another front to move in with little to no wet weather across the region.

Behind the front we should see a noticeable drop in our temperatures and humidity with highs dropping down into the low to mid-80s along with a significant drop in humidity. This will likely mark some of the most comfortable conditions across the Carolinas in the past couple of months.

In the meantime, get ready for more summer conditions for Thursday! Have a great night!
