LAFAYETTE, IN — Four women and a teenaged girl went to Walmart on the south side Tuesday afternoon after conspiring to steal from the retailer, according to police.
Arrested were Kaylaa Nina Wright, 18, of the 600 block of Olivia Place in Lafayette; Ayanna K. Robinson, 18, of the 600 block of South 18th Street in Lafayette; Teyshema Renee Smith, 39, of the 300 block of Brunswick Drive in Lafayette; and Katherine Elaine Hutchenson, 36, of the 600 block of South 18th Street in Lafayette.
The arrested juvenile is a 17-year-old girl, police said.
The women and juvenile stole a TV, clothing and various household items such as bathroom supplies, according to Lafayette police, who were called to the scene about 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The group had left the store before police arrived, but officers found the suspects a short time later and arrested them, police said.
Officers jailed the adults on suspicion of organized theft, according to jail records. It's a Level 5 felony if it is more than $50,000, according to the law.
By Wednesday morning, the adults had been released from the Tippecanoe County Jail. Their bond was set at $500.
