Cooldown coming as fall-like weather in Ohio forecast. How low will temperatures go?

Tired of roasting in the Ohio heat this summer? Is your air conditioner working overtime to keep up with the sweltering temperatures?

Well, there's good news. A cooldown is coming, with below-average temperatures predicted across all of Ohio and neighboring states next week, according to the National Weather Service's Climate Prediction Center.

"Get ready for a taste of fall early next week!" NWS Pittsburgh, which covers a portion of eastern Ohio, wrote on X on Aug. 20.

According to the NWS office in Cleveland, temperatures will drop into the high 60s and low 70s in the northern part of the state.

In the Akron-Canton region, the NWS forecast calls for temperatures to linger in the 80s through the weekend, with a high of 85 on Friday, Aug. 22, 86 on Saturday and 80 on Sunday. The cooldown starts Monday, Aug. 25, with a forecast high of 73 degrees. From there, AccuWeather takes up the long-term forecast, calling for highs of 70 on Aug. 26, 72 on Aug. 27 and 74 on Aug. 28.

The NWS forecast for Columbus also calls for 80-degree weather to stick around through the weekend, with highs of 86 on Friday, Aug. 22, 88 on Saturday and 83 on Sunday. On Aug. 25, the high temperature drops to 75. The AccuWeather forecast then calls for temps in the mid- to high-70s, with highs of 73 on Tuesday, Aug. 26, 76 on Aug. 27 and 78 on Aug. 28.

And in Cincinnati, the NWS forecast follows the same pattern, with high-80s in the forecast through the weekend — 88 on Friday, Aug. 22, 89 on Saturday and 84 on Sunday. Monday, Aug. 25, will be a bit cooler, with a high of 78. Per AccuWeather, mid- to high-70s temperatures continue into next week, with highs of 76 on Aug. 26, 77 on Aug. 27 and 79 on Aug. 28.
