A mid-state city manager is facing charges of aggravated burglary, theft and stalking after a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation probe.
A grand jury returned an indictment Aug. 20 against Lewisburg City Manager Roy Haislip, 61, who was booked into the Marshall County Jail on a $10,000 bond. He was later released on bail.
The TBI said in an Aug. 20 release that District Attorney General Rob Carter requested the agency investigate allegations of theft involving Haislip.
During the probe, investigators found Haislip repeatedly contacted a city employee after being asked to stop, the release said.
TBI also noted in the release that Haislip broke into the employee's home and took personal items.
Mayor Jim Bingham said in a statement sent via email the arrest of Haislip was a "serious and troubling development for our community."
The mayor did not provide an update on Haislip's job status.
Bingham said none of the allegations were related to Haislip's work as city manager, and none occurred during work hours or involved misuse of city time, property or authority.
"We understand the gravity of this moment and the concern it may cause," Bingham said in the release. "The city council and leadership team are taking all necessary steps to maintain the integrity of our government and to support our community through this process."
Haislip's LinkedIn page said he has served as city manager since January 2022 for the town of about 12,000 people. Lewisburg is about an hour south of Nashville.
City council member Vicki Michael declined to comment on Haislip's arrest.
