Caitlin Clark has played in 13 games this season. The Indiana Fever superstar will now miss her 14th regular-season game, and 15th game overall since the opener.
Clark was listed out for Wednesday's matchup against the Phoenix Mercury, according to IndyStar's Chloe Peterson. Clark remains sidelined with a right groin injury.
The Fever announced on July 24 that further medical evaluations Clark received didn't reveal any additional injuries or damage.
In the same statement, the team said that "there is no timetable available for Clark's return" and that the organization is prioritizing "her long-term health and well-being."
Wednesday's game will be the fifth in a row Clark has sat out. During that span, the Iowa product also had to back out of the WNBA 3-Point Contest as well as the league's All-Star Game. While the Fever hosted All-Star Weekend, Clark still showed up to the Indianapolis festivities and helped coach the team she captained in the All-Star Game.
After making it through her illustrious college career and the first season of her pro career mostly unscathed, Clark has been bit by the injury bug this year.
Coming off her WNBA Rookie of the Year campaign in 2024, Clark entered her sophomore season in the W with sky-high expectations. Although she missed the preseason opener with left quad tightness, she quickly put that absence in the rear view mirror with a 20-10-10 triple-double in the first game of the regular season.
But the now-two-time All-Star didn't get out of May without another injury. A left quad strain took her out of the lineup for five games between May 28 and June 10. She returned, only to then go down with a left groin injury that kept her out for four regular-season games, plus the WNBA Commissioner's Cup final, from June 26 to July 5.
The right groin injury is her fourth muscle injury this season.
She is averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game while shooting only 36.7% from the field and 27.9% from 3.
Clark, normally a spectacular shooter, has particularly struggled in her last seven games, posting a sub-30% field goal percentage and an uncharacteristic 14.3% clip from beyond the arc during that window.
The Fever are currently sixth in the league standings with a 14-12 record. They are 6-7 without Clark in the lineup, not counting their victory over the Minnesota Lynx in the Commissioner's Cup final, which doesn't factor into the standings.
