The C8 Corvette has made plenty of waves in the performance car space, with the ZR1 easily rising to the level of its European supercar competitors—but all those recent Z06 and ZR1 owners will have to put a brief pause on their V-8 indulgences. That's because Chevrolet has just issued a recall on both variants of the high-performance 'Vette, due to a fuel-spillage issue that increases the risk of fire.
Recall documents from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration obtained by CorvetteBlogger indicate that all 2023–2025 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 and 2025–2026 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 models are included in the recall. A spokesperson for General Motors confirmed the recall to Road & Track, and said it is focused on "excess fuel spillage issue during refueling." While the statement from GM stops short of saying it, the recall filing from NHTSA explains that this excess fuel is prone to leak onto the left-side radiator, and could thus lead to a fire.

"This is a rare occurrence, and malfunctioning filling station pumps appear to be a contributing factor. The safety of our customers is the highest priority for the entire GM team, and we’re working to remedy this matter as quickly as possible," a spokesperson for GM said in a statement to R&T.
The increased risk of fire also means GM has issued a stop-sale on Corvette Z06 and ZR1 models. This means that any such Corvette inventory currently at dealerships won't move until the issue is resolved, and GM has yet to announced a verified solution. However, the recall document does state that GM is planning to install a shield to divert spilled fuel away from potential ignition sources. A spokesperson for NHTSA confirmed to Road & Track that the agency had received the recall notice from General Motors, and that it would be posted online once it has been properly reviewed.

The scope of this recall will be fairly small, especially considering that only a few hundred Corvette ZR1 units are estimated to have been made so far. Official production Corvette Z06 figures from 2023 and 2024 total up to 16,052, while Corvette Blogger claims that 2025 and 2026 model year production figures equal up to 9234 units. All told, the recall should cover around 25,500 Corvette units. Notably, this recall does not include other Corvette models (save for the ZR1X, which has not yet entered production) because the left-side radiator assembly is specific to Z06 and ZR1 models.
