A motorcycle rider in Illinois learned a valuable lesson when he tried fleeing from police, only for the bike to run out of gas. It’s a hilarious case of yet another dumb criminal thinking they’ve pulled a fast one, only to realize his lack of planning has backfired.
Watch police yank a reckless rider right off his motorcycle.
The incident, as captured on police dashcam, happened on August 6 in the city of Peoria. Sheriff’s deputies only noticed the motorcycle because it didn’t have registration displayed. But it turns out the bike was stolen.
That’s part of the reason why once deputies flip on their lights and sirens the suspect takes off. Blasting down a long stretch of open road at high speed, he forces the bike to guzzle gas like a sailor on shore leave.
And that’s when the engine suddenly sputters and dies as the last of the fuel runs out. The rider keeps twisting the throttle and tries hitting the ignition, we guess hoping it will fire up again.
When that doesn’t work, he tries duck walking away as one of the deputies gets out and runs him down on foot. It’s one of the worst getaway attempts we’ve ever seen.
It’s kind of ironic that a guy who got a motorcycle for free or bought it off the thief for cheap didn’t spend a little bit of extra money on a fake registration. That would’ve avoided this whole chase.
He also didn’t spend a few extra bucks to put an extra gallon or two in the gas tank. That would’ve avoided him being caught. In other words, his cheapness was what ultimately did him in.
Even better, the guy was rolling around on a stolen motorcycle while he had felony warrants for his arrest. That would indicate he’s made a string of bad choices in life, probably more than we even know about, so not topping off the gas tank is just par for the course with the guy.
