
NORTH CANTON ‒ A 77-year-old Canton man was arrested after he was accused of firing shots near a restaurant at Washington Square the night of Aug. 23.
The man was charged with six counts of aggravated menacing, two counts of discharging a firearm, one count of vandalism and one count of inducing panic, North Canton police said.
Police responded following multiple 911 calls at 9:44 p.m. reporting shots fired.
The suspected shooter was located inside a blue Ford Mustang and taken into custody without incident, police said. A rifle was on the passenger seat and a .357 revolver matching the description of a handgun provided by witnesses was found in the car, police said.
The man is being held at the Stark County Jail.
A news release issued by police didn't state whether the man was shooting at people or why the shooting took place. Police said there was no further information to release.
