Two people died after the ATV they were riding was found overturned in water on Saturday evening.

The Carlton County Sheriff's Office says it was called to Ditch Bank Forest Road in Progress Township at around 9:20 a.m. after the man and woman riding a side-by-side ATV got separated from the group they were riding with.

Someone from the group found their ATV overturned in water, and despite attempting CPR, they were pronounced dead at the scene.

The victims are a 48-year-old woman from Cloquet and a 59-year-old man from out of state.

The crash remains under investigation.
