No evidence of an active shooter at the University of South Carolina, the school says

COLUMBIA, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — An active shooter alert was issued for the University of South Carolina’s Columbia campus at the Thomas Cooper Library.

Minutes after sending the alert, the school posted an update saying there is no evidence of an active shooter, but police are still searching the affected areas.

The alert has since been taken off the school’s website.

EMS is currently on scene, treating several students for minor injuries that occurred during the evacuation.

Officials are asking everyone to remain in place at this time until it’s all clear.
