With Forza Horizon 5 mere months away from its fourth anniversary, fans of the franchise are starting to get antsy. Despite reported heavy lay-off at Forza Motorsport studio Turn 10 earlier this year, the street-oriented Horizon series developed by Playground Games appears to be gearing up for another entry. According to a new report from Windows Central, Playground Games and Xbox Game Studios might unveil the game next month. Furthermore, the series may finally be headed to the mountains of Japan.
While there has not been anything official from Microsoft to suggest that Forza Horizon 6 is right around the corner, there are reasons to get excited. An Australian car import company recently made waves online when it posted images of Playground Games staffers on-location for some digital scans. The importer specifically noted that the company was there to help construct its virtual models of their kei cars. These downscaled vehicles are native to Japan, but have garnered a major international fanbase. The post was removed following the storm of interest, but many commenters online suggested that this post confirms the series’ shift to a Japanese location. That is something fans have been clamoring for since a Horizon follow-up was first announced.
Windows Central also has some additional fuel to add to the fires of speculation. The publication claims to have received a widely-distributed document with details about the upcoming Tokyo Game Show which suggests a Forza debut event. This annual gaming conference is more focused on the domestic Japanese gaming market than other global conferences, which the publication suggests only makes sense if a Japanese setting is present. Considering the conference is only a few weeks away, we may not have to wait too much longer for all the details. Here’s hoping all of the togue dreams are finally just around the corner.
