President Trump and members of his Cabinet are meeting Tuesday morning as the administration steps up its crackdown on crime in Washington, D.C. while setting its sights on other Democratic-run cities.
The meeting also comes amid pushback over Trump’s threat to oust Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook amid allegations of mortgage fraud. The move has exacerbated the president’s feud with the nation’s central bank, even as Fed Chair Jerome Powell indicated last week that an interest rate cut could be on the horizon — following months of pressure from Trump.
Mid-decade redistricting proposals across the U.S., immigration enforcement efforts and uncertainty around the president’s tariff agenda and peace talks in the Middle East and Eastern Europe are also top of mind.
The event is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. EDT.
