Jo Ellison, an anchor for Fort Smith, Arkansas CBS affiliate KFSM, faced every parents nightmare when she dropped her daughter off at the University of Arkansas.

An active shooter was reported at the University in Fayetteville around 12:30 p.m. on August 25. Police later determined it was a hoax.

“It’s looking as if it was another swatting or hoax call,” U of A Police Department Assistant Chief Matt Mills said during a press conference at around 4 p.m.

“I'm so thankful I was with my kid on the University of Arkansas campus today when the call of a possible active shooter went out. Police have since said there is no active shooter threat, no injuries, no reports of shots fired and no arrest at this time,” Ellison said on social media. “I had just dropped her off at her dorm room and was driving away when the Alert came.”

She said she was about a mile away when she saw dozens of police from “every agency flying towards the campus with their lights on and sirens blaring.”

“Even though she wasn't far away, my heart dropped and all I wanted to do was get to her. I did,” she added. “I experienced the continued search and even up until they said there was no threat…with her right by my side. I'm so thankful for that.
