Scattered showered and temperatures cooler-than-average for the end of August are set to sweep Massachusetts on Wednesday.
The early-morning sunshine and hours of dry weather are expected to give way to partly cloudy skies statewide as the storm moves from west to east.
Temperatures will be in the low to mid 70s throughout the day — colder than normal for late August, the National Weather Service noted.
The showers will begin to develop in Western Massachusetts by mid-morning around 10 a.m., according to the Weather Service.
Eastern Massachusetts should begin to see rain between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. as the precipitation moves eastward, and winds should only reach heights of 10 mph.
Though severe weather is not expected, some storms could produce small hail, or graupel.
Overnight, temperatures will drop significantly, with lows ranging from the mid-40s to low 50s.
Weather patterns should shift on Thursday, with temperatures back up in the upper 70s as forecasters eye a strong storm moving into the state on Friday. This Friday rainfall could bring up to a half-inch of precipitation.
The early Labor Day weekend forecast predicts dry conditions with low humidity and clear skies. Temperatures may still be below seasonal averages, and forecasters believe things should warm up again for the first week of September.
