We’ve seen a few Willy’s Jeep hotrods in our time, but this one that’s inspired by WWII aviators is a true beauty. The level of detail in this build is amazing, even dazzling, but it also drives great so the owner can take it out and really turn heads.
Abandoned Corvette shop looks like something out of a horror movie.
The man behind this amazing creation is Cameron Aamodt. He has inspired many with his vision, even taking this unique ride to display during Monterey Car Week recently.

It’s easy to see why he’s caused a stir. The all-aluminum body features rivets like what airplanes which served in the Pacific and European theaters of WWII had. The fuel tanks are shaped like old bombs. There are two steering yokes in the cabin, as well as a wall of controls and a throttle-style control for the transmission.
There’s an air speed gauge, which is fed by a pitot tube coming out of the grille. The seat cushions and belts are made to look like old parachutes.
He even tried several muffler options on the headers until he found one that sounds like a WWII warbird.
Under the hood is what Aamodt calls a “mild build” Chevy 350. That’s a common one for hotrods and it’s enough to get a little, lightweight car like this one moving in a hurry, making it fun to drive. A Turbo 350 automatic transmission adds to the no-fuss experience.

When Aamodt took his hotrod to show on Autotopia LA, he opened up about what led to his creating the fantastic machine. His body was ravaged by Type 1 diabetes and a rare genetic disorder in his family led to him being wheelchair bound for two years.
Dealing with that adversity, he started watching tons of videos about how to build hotrods and decided he wanted to do just that. But he was not only physically recovering from his condition but also financially.
That’s when he “stumbled into” a job restoring WWII aircraft. That fueled the inspiration for this build, which incorporates elements from those storied airplanes which helped to restore freedom around the world.
