LONDON, Ky. (FOX 56) — Newly released body camera video shows how two Kentucky State Police troopers’ heroic actions saved one Laurel County woman’s life in the aftermath of deadly tornadoes.

First responders worked tirelessly to save Kentuckians after a deadly tornado swept across southeastern Kentucky back in May. The video KSP shared on Wednesday morning is just one example of their dedication.

Who are the southeastern Kentucky tornado victims?

The May tornadoes took the lives of 20 people, 17 of whom were from Laurel County. More than 800 homes were damaged across Kentucky.

Troopers Dylan Rose and Briston Smith responded in the middle of the night on Sunday, May 17, to a pile of rubble where a home once stood. There, they found an elderly woman trapped underneath.

“Ma’am, we’re going to move you over here onto this board, okay?” one of the men could be heard saying.

“No doubt, the actions of these troopers and medical personnel were instrumental in saving her life,” state police said.
