The more track-focused version of the Hyundai Elantra N called the Elantra N TCR Edition is inching its way closer to the United States, as Hyundai Canada has just announced the extra-spicy performance sedan will be available to our neighbors up north.
Hyundai initially revealed the TCR Edition for the South Korean market, but left the possibility of sales in other regions open. There’s still no word on whether it will come to the U.S., but since Hyundai sees fit to send a few Canada’s way, that certainly inspires hope it could end up federalized for us in the States, too.

If you were looking for more power, that’s unfortunately not part of the TCR’s build sheet. It makes do with the standard Elantra N’s 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder producing 276 horsepower and 289 pound-feet of torque. Canadians will be able to choose between the six-speed manual and the eight-speed dual-clutch automatic.
As for what’s different, the visuals are obvious straightaway: an enormous carbon fiber swan neck wing adds a pile of downforce, but is also adjustable to a number of different settings depending on your needs. New-and-lightened 19-inch forged wheels are fitted, and upgraded four-piston monoblock calipers clamping two-piece rotors in front hide behind them. The idea was to create a more track-ready version of the Elantra N, hence the TCR (Touring Car Racing) moniker.
Of course, special edition badging and unique materials abound, too. You’ll notice the “TCR” emblem on the rear trunk. It also has TCR door puddle lamps, an Alcantara steering wheel with a blue 12 o’clock marker and other Alcantara-covered bits such as the center console, shift knob and parking brake. Lastly, exterior color selection is limited to just four instead of the Elantra N’s usual six options.

How much will these changes cost you? Only about $3500 beyond a standard Elantra N, at least based on the conversion from loonies to U.S. dollars. For the brake, wheel and aero upgrades alone, that sounds like a rocking deal. Add in some of the appearance and materials items, and we sure wouldn’t complain if Hyundai decided to bless us with this TCR Edition.
