Teachers and staff of Lubbock Independent School District are getting a raise this school year, after the district's Board of Trustees unanimously approved what they call a "historic raise" Thursday morning.
The board decided to approve raises across the district, with all certified teachers receiving a 13% raise and new teachers starting at $50,900, according to a news release from LISD.
“We have always had that commitment to our teachers…so we can continue to reward our teachers who are building the workforce of the future,” Board President Beth Bridges said in the release.
Other district employees will get a 3% raise, instructional support staff will see a 14% raise, and starting pay for new instructional support staff will be $13.50 an hour. Adjunct teachers were not included in the raises, as they are not considered teachers of record by TEA, but will receive incentives to help them complete their educator certification, according to the release.

These pay increases should appear in the September 2025 paychecks. Employees on different pay schedules will receive the pay retroactively in September, according to the release.
The board budgeted around $7.5 million to the district's budget for raises, with the hope to recruit and retain educators. Funding from House Bill 2 helped make the raises possible, according to the release.
