This year’s Monterey Car Week involves some big auction items, including some of Vic Edelbrock Jr.’s personal cars. Seven different rides the legendary performance parts pioneer enjoyed during his life are set to cross the block at Bonhams’ The Quail Auction on August 15.

This heavily modified ’65 Chevelle is ready to rock ‘til dawn.

The car hobby has been forever changed by Vic Edelbrock Jr., so the auctioning of a few of his vehicles is a huge deal. Not surprisingly, the man gravitated heavily towards American performance rides as reflected in this hand-picked assortment from his larger collection.

While all of the vehicles in the Vic Edelbrock Jr. Collection are impressive, the 1968 Chevy Camaro Trans Am known as “The Mysterious No. 13” is a standout. It has an amazing history, holding multiple Bonneville records, driven to multiple racing victories by Don Yenko, and even being disqualified from the 1968 Daytona 24-Hour as Bruce McLaren was tapped to drive it.

The auction house estimates that even with no reserve, the racecar will sell for $500,000 to $700,000.

Just as interesting is the 1963 Chevy Corvette Sting Ray Z06 once owned by Bob Bondurant that also has an incredible motorsports history. It’s also one of only six to be produced in the factory, which alone makes the racecar quite valuable.

Bonhams estimates the ‘Vette will also sell for $500,000 to $700,000.

While the other lots in the collection aren’t estimated to bring in such lofty amounts, they’re still well-preserved classic cars boasting celebrity ownership. A number of people will surely be interested in adding them to their collection.

After Vic Edelbrock Sr. passed away, his son took over Edelbrock Corporation and made it a household name across the nation. The name has been prominent in motorsports, tuner circles, and familiar with just about anyone who’s ever turned a wrench.
