After three days of hot and humid weather were followed by severe thunderstorms, which brought flood risks, Delaware and the surrounding area will finally get a break as August begins.
Cool and breezy weather will blanket the area on Aug. 1 as temperatures finally break following a near-weeklong heat wave.

Conditions will be cloudy and a bit breezy today as a much-needed break from July's heat and humidity will see temperatures drop into the 60s and 70s, according to the National Weather Service in Mount Holly, New Jersey.

A few showers or drizzle are possible, but Aug. 1 will largely be a dry day, the weather service said.

Dover: 75 degrees
Bethany Beach: 77 degrees
Delaware weekend forecast
Overall, it will be very pleasant with dry summer weather for the weekend in Delaware and bordering states, according to the NWS.
Sunny and dry conditions will be on tap with temperatures several degrees below normal for much of the area.
Highs on Saturday will be in the upper 70s to low 80s, and then on Sunday will be in the low to mid 80s, meteorologists said. Lows at night will be in the 50s to low 60s.
