Depending on how you look at it, this 1968 Corvette 427 that’s been left in the woods is super sad or an opportunity. Apparently, it ran when it was parked there long ago, but just sitting outside has been rough on the paint and we’re sure a whole lot more.
This secret junkyard contains some amazing classic American muscle cars.
One big sticking point with this C3 Corvette is nobody can get inside. The owner, who is the grandson of the last person to drive it, has the keys. However, the handles to open the doors have deteriorated and broken, rendering them useless.
Why someone can’t take a coat hangar and open the sports car that way is a mystery, but they seem unable to get inside.
That means there’s no way to pop the hood and verify the 427ci V8 is still sitting underneath. Plus, the VIN tag is under there and that’s necessary to really tell what all the classic came with when new.
By looking through the windows, you can see the interior looks pretty good. You can also tell the car comes with the four-speed transmission.
The reason this ’68 ‘Vette is two different colors is that someone decided to have it repainted black right over the original orange. Both coats of paint are cracking and flaking off, so the new owner would need to remove it and paint the fiberglass a fresh color, maybe the original factory hue.
While there’s some fiberglass damage on the rear, the rest of the body looks good. Even more surprising, the soft top is relatively intact.
Even though it can’t be opened, this Chevy is for sale. We know someone is going to take the gamble and go for it, because this isn’t exactly a common vehicle.
