Go Woke, Go Broke: Jaguar Land Rover Boss Is Out

It’s no secret Jaguar Land Rover is in serious trouble, especially after the woke Jaguar rebranding campaign. With that in mind, it’s not all that shocking to learn CEO Adrian Mardell is out. The Indian-owned British automaker apparently let the man save face and announce he’s retiring instead of just throwing him to the curb.

Toyota has run into engineering problems with the new MR2 sports car.

This is quite the change at a time when the company is struggling, in particular Jaguar. But Land Rover has also been grappling with the turbulent international trade situation. Not only has the automaker had to deal with President Trump’s tariffs but also China turning its back after the company successfully sued a Chinese automaker for ripping off its designs.

Perhaps the shakeup at the top will help Jaguar Land Rover aright the ship as it’s sinking into the ocean. After all, both the Jaguar and Land Rover brands have struggled for relevance as competition in the auto market has dialed up in recent years.

What’s really great about Mardell’s exit is that the BBC has completely rewritten history already. In its coverage of the CEO’s departure, the news outlet says he oversaw “a programme… to turn Jaguar into a luxury all-electric brand, a move that was slammed by critics.”

That sure is a nice spin on Jaguar going woke, then going broke. The move wasn’t slammed because the storied British brand was going all-electric but instead because its rebranding campaign was awash in woke garbage consumers are beyond tired of having rammed down their throats.

Likely Mardell’s ouster has to do with the disastrous marketing and more, but Jaguar Land Rover doesn’t want to anger so-called “progressives” by saying that. After all, look at the screeching directed towards American Eagle at the moment.
