
DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) — The Ohio State Fair saw the recovery of a large sum of money, promising the distribution of thousands in missing funds to Ohioans.
According to the Ohio Department of Commerce’s Division of Unclaimed Funds, initiated claims totaled $633,873.18 during the 12-day event. One fairgoer who reported unclaimed funds reported a claim of over $60,000.
The average claim amount, based of 1,200 people, was $527.35.

“Whether it’s a few dollars to thousands, reuniting people with their money is incredibly rewarding,” said Akil Hardy, Superintendent of the Division of Unclaimed Funds.
“It’s a chance to connect with Ohioans and show them that the process can be simpler and less stressful than they perhaps might think.”
The division has returned over $1.6 million in unclaimed funds to Ohioans over the last four years-worth of Ohio State Fairs
