Kelly Osbourne is learning how to navigate her grief.
Less than two weeks after her dad and beloved heavy metal musician Ozzy Osbourne died at the age of 76 on July 22, Kelly shared a raw look at how she’s faring following the devastating loss.
“Grief is a strange thing,” she wrote on her Instagram Story Aug. 4. “It sneaks up on you in waves—I will not be ok for a while—but knowing my family are not alone in our pain makes a difference. I'm holding on tight to the love, the light, and the legacy left behind.”
In fact, Kelly shared how the many fans of Black Sabbath and her father have helped lighten the load.
“I've sat down to write this a hundred times and still don't know if the words will ever feel like enough... but from the bottom of my heart, thank you,” she added. “The love, support, and beautiful messages I've received from so many of you have truly helped carry me through the hardest moment of my life. Every kind word, every shared memory, every bit of compassion has meant more than I can ever explain.”

The 40-year-old concluded, “Thank you for being there. I love you all so much.”
In the days since Ozzy’s passing, Kelly has chosen meaningful ways to pay tribute to the late rockstar. In fact, her first message following the news of Ozzy’s passing was taken from Black Sabbath’s song “Changes.”
"I feel unhappy,” she wrote on her July 24 Story, quoting the song’s opening verse. “I am so sad. I lost the best friend I ever had."
And for Ozzy’s public funeral procession on July 30, Kelly—who was accompanied by fiancé Sid Wilson at the event—donned a pair of wire-rimmed, reflective glasses, much like the style Ozzy became known for throughout his career.
While Kelly had addressed speculation over the Prince of Darkness’ health just days before his passing—noting that despite his Parkinson’s and limited mobility Ozzy was “not dying”—one of the musician’s sisters, Jean Powell, shared additional insight into his health before his death.
"It was upsetting because he could not stand up straight, but he was still our John, still cracking the jokes,” Jean, who attended his final Black Sabbath performance July 5, told The Mirror in an interview July 23. “He was frail, but it still came as a shock. He still had plans and things he wanted to do.”
