Arizona Dealership Allegedly Sold Car With A Lien On The Title

A woman in Wisconsin has been fighting a long battle after she says a dealership in Tucson, Arizona sold her a car with a lean on the title. Now, that dealership, Quebedeaux Buick-GMC, is under investigation by the state since it’s illegal for dealers or private parties to sell a vehicle with a lien on the title without disclosing that fact first.

Modern car technology is making escaping the office while driving increasingly impossible.

The vehicle in question is a 2020 GMC Yukon Denali, something the victim describes as a dream ride. She saved up her money for a long time to afford the luxury SUV, then spent six months looking for the right one.

She also did plenty of research about the buying process, pulling a vehicle history report and hiring a mechanic to inspect it before finalizing the deal and having the GMC shipped to her home.

But months later, the dealership had failed to transfer to title to her, and that’s when she realized there had to be a lien on it. When she figured that out, she claims the dealership stopped responding to her messages.

Frustrated, she reached out to an Arizona news station, KOLD 13, which reached out to the manager the victim said she had been dealing with. But that man reportedly played dumb, pretending to not know anything about the title lien.

After the victim contacted the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, four months after buying the Yukon Denali, the dealership finally rectified the problem, and the title was released. But the victim said the dealership didn’t apologize, leaving her frustrated.

That situation would be stressful to go through, but we hear of dealers pulling this sort of thing way too often.

In a letter to KOLD, Quebedeaux Buick-GMC says “there was a breakdown in communication during the lien payoff and title processing, and we acknowledge the impact this had on her confidence in our dealership.” It goes on to say internal processes have been changed to prevent such a situation from happening again.

But KOLD says the dealership won’t return its calls. Interestingly enough, the news station also says the Arizona Attorney General’s Office wouldn’t confirm or deny there’s an active investigation into the issue.

However, the Arizona Department of Transportation is reportedly investigating the problem with the aim of preventing future problems.
