SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Democratic candidate for Iowa Secretary of State, Ryan Peterman, stopped by Sioux City on Saturday.

Peterman helped kick off a canvas launch for the state senate candidate, Catelin Drey, earlier in the day. Later, the candidate held a meet and greet in downtown Sioux City and listened to residents’ concerns about the state of Iowa. He also presented what his goals are if elected into office.

“I think we’ve seen troubling trends when you look at elections and voting rights here in Iowa,” said candidate Ryan Peterman. “We’ve seen shortening of the time period folks have to vote, we’ve seen vague new election laws go into effect that make it harder for folks to vote, and I think if we want democracy to function as well as it can. We need to be making sure that anybody with the right to vote and the desire to vote has the opportunity to vote.”

So far, Ryan Peterman is the only other candidate running in the race besides incumbent Paul Pate.
