It may be August, but temperatures keep reminding us we still live in Florida, and this month is hot.
Heat advisories are in effect Wednesday, Aug. 6, for South Florida as the heat index climbs as high as 110 in some locations, according to the National Weather Service Miami.

Elsewhere, the National Hurricane Center is monitoring three systems, including one off the coast of Florida and the Southeast. It's showing some potential to develop into a tropical depression later this week or into the weekend.
While the system poses no direct threat to Florida at this time, it could bring elevated rain chances and rip currents along portions of the East Coast later in the week and into the weekend, according to the Florida Department of Emergency Management.
Increased rain chances and cloud cover across the state will help keep conditions slightly “cooler” than some of the last few weeks allowing for more seasonable temperatures and heat index values, according to the Florida Department of Emergency Management.
Rain chances across the state over the next five days range from about 1.5 inches to the highest of 4.09 inches in Southwest Florida, according to the National Weather Service.
When will we see some rain in Florida?
A system off the coast of Florida and the southeast, is showing a chance for development into a tropical depression later this week or the weekend, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The system could bring numerous to widespread showers and thunderstorms Thursday through Saturday, according to the Florida Department of Emergency Management.
