With 10 races left in the Formula One season, it’s apparent Scuderia Ferrari is dealing with a whole raft of problems. The big question so many are asking is do those problems originate within the team, the drivers, or external sabotage of some sort.

According to Mercedes’ George Russell, part of the problem might have to do with how Ferrari set up the SF-25 racecars. Talking after Hungarian Grand Prix, the driver made the explosive claim that Charles Leclerc’s car was “close to being illegal” before the team changed the setup, reports Planet F1.

He theorized the Italians increased the tire pressure and changed the engine mode to prevent another disqualification. The result was Leclerc was driving at a much slower pace later in the race.

The whole point of that setup, which slowed down the car, was to reduce plank wear. Considering that’s been an issue for Ferrari this season, most famously at the Chinese GP, he might be right.

It certainly beats the more exotic theories of sabotage and whatnot floating around the internet currently.

In the meantime, team principal Fred Vasseur stated an investigation into what happened in Hungary.

There are many other problems erupting for the team, but one of the most troubling is accusations it’s helping Leclerc more than seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton.

That’s been an accusation thrown around since trouble began this season. But when Gian Carlo Minardi, a former F1 team owner who knows the motorsport better than most, openly postulates it might be true, that causes waves.

Speaking with Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport, he said his understanding is “Lewis is complaining about things that were promised to him, but haven’t arrived.”

While Hamilton has shouldered much of the blame for his performance this year while in public, it seems Minardi believes behind closed doors and in the right company the driver will admit he’s being forsaken.

Is that true? Will Ferrari get its ducks in a row with the cars and the drivers? Or is a big shakeup coming for the 2026 season as 2025 continues being a mess?
