West Texans McDougal, Wood to be inducted into Texas Housing Hall of Honor

The West Texas Home Builders Association recently announced that two of its most distinguished members, Robert Wood, of Custom Homes by Robert Wood and the West Texas Land Guys, and Delbert McDougal, founder of McDougal Companies, have been selected for induction into the Texas Housing Hall of Honor by the Texas Association of Builders.

Wood and McDougal will be formally inducted during the Excellence in Leadership Dinner on Nov. 4, 2025, at the Hyatt Regency in Austin.

The Texas Housing Hall of Honor recognizes men and women who have made significant and lasting contributions to the residential housing industry, the State of Texas, and the communities they serve.

This year’s honorees join a prestigious group of industry leaders whose vision, leadership, and commitment have shaped the future of housing in Texas.

Robert Wood, an industry leader with Custom Homes by Robert Wood and co-founder of theWest Texas Land Guys, Wood has been instrumental in shaping residential development acrossthe Lubbock region.

Through his leadership, Wood has advanced business-friendly policies, championed thoughtful growth strategies, and dedicated himself to the betterment of the homebuilding industry and the greater Lubbock Community through years of service to WTHBA, TAB, West Texas Hero Homes, the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, and numerous community initiatives.

Delbert McDougal, founder of McDougal Companies, was a transformative force in West Texas real estate and development for decades. Known for his pioneering projects, such as The Overton Park redevelopment, McDougal’s work has revitalized neighborhoods, expanded housing opportunities, and created a lasting economic impact across the region.

His leadership within the industry and commitment to community service cemented his legacy as one of Texas’ most influential builders and developers.

Wood and McDougal join a select group of Texans who have received this distinguished honor,including The Honorable Randy Neugebauer (2009 Inductee) of Lubbock. The Texas Housing Hall of Honor induction will be a highlight of TAB’s Excellence in Leadership Dinner, where industry leaders gather to celebrate the achievements of those who have profoundly impacted housing in Texas.
