Everyone knows the Jeep Wrangler as one of the most capable off-roading machines around, but what if it burned rubber, too? Jeep asked itself that same question when it debuted the Rubicon 392 in 2021, a V8-powered version of the Jeep Wrangler Rubicon like this one for sale on Exotic Car Trader. The beating heart of the Rubicon 392 is a 6.4L (392 cu. in.) naturally aspirated V8 SRT Hemi that makes 470 hp and 470 lb-ft of torque through an 8-speed automatic transmission with four-wheel drive. Keep in mind that this is the same engine found in the Dodge Charger Scat Pack and the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT, meaning the Wrangler Rubicon 392 has some serious chops hiding underneath its rugged interior. The automaker claims a 0-60 mph time of around 4.5 seconds, which is ludicrous for something that looks like a box on wheels.

This particular example is finished in a blue-ish shade of gray called Anvil over a contrasting black and red vinyl interior. The cabin is a welcome departure from modern, screen-filled ones

Apart from the eye-catching color theme, the interior features a plethora of tactile buttons and switches to control the automatic climate control, the infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the differential locks and sway bar disconnects. Even the gauges are analog, and that's never a feature you'll find me complaining about. If blasting tunes on the dunes is one of your goals, you'll be pleased to find the Alpine speaker setup and trunk-mounted subwoofer on board as well.

Final thoughts

I'm not a particularly big enthusiast of off-road activities, but if I were, I think a car that could give others a run for its money on the dirt and the pavement would be my rig of choice. The Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 392 is much like a sleeper: nobody expects something on off-road tires to haul ass, but once that nearly 500 hp hits, their jaws will hit the floor. With just over 5,000 miles on the odometer and an asking price of $89,499, there aren't many other options on the market that can provide this kind of capability for the same price tag. Considering that a new Wrangler Rubicon 392 goes for over $100,000 once everything is factored in, this isn't a bad deal for one of these, either. It's basically a muscle car that also likes to get dirty. Who can say no to that?
