One of 250 "short nose" 275 GTBs, fully restored and Ferrari Classiche certified, is poised for Monterey auction spotlight.
A meticulously restored and historically significant 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB, chassis 07723, is set to cross the auction block at Broad Arrow’s Monterey Jet Center sale on August 14. Estimated between $2.5 and $2.8 million, this example represents one of just 250 “short nose” variants ever produced and comes with Ferrari Classiche certification verifying its original engine, gearbox, body, and chassis.
Originally delivered in Argento Metallizzato over black Connolly leather, the matching-numbers Berlinetta boasts a documented six-owner history since new, including over three decades in long-term Southern California ownership. Following an extensive, three-year nut-and-bolt restoration completed in 2021, the car has earned multiple awards, including FCA Platinum honors and Best of Show at the Concorso Italiano.
The Ferrari’s early life began in Bergamo, Italy, before being imported to California in 1969. Over the following decades, it would pass through the hands of noted collectors and undergo a full cosmetic and mechanical rejuvenation led by marque experts including European Collectibles, Beckman Metal Works, and Brook Betz. Finished once again in its factory-correct silver with a fresh blue Connolly leather interior, the restoration was carefully documented with photographs and detailed invoices.
Under the hood, the 275 GTB houses a 3.3-liter Tipo 213 V12 engine producing 280 horsepower, paired with a five-speed transaxle—a layout that introduced rear-mounted gearbox integration to Ferrari road cars for the first time. The car also includes its original tool roll, jack, Classiche “Red Book,” and a second set of five Borrani wire wheels.
With fewer than 500 miles added since restoration, this 275 GTB offers a rare opportunity for collectors seeking an elite example of Ferrari’s mid-1960s grand touring legend—ideal for concours events or high-speed vintage rallies.
