Fort Smith woman killed, 5 others injured in Oklahoma crash

MUSKOGEE COUNTY, Okla. (KNWA/KFTA) — A Fort Smith woman was killed and five others, including four young children, were injured in a crash July 26 in eastern Oklahoma, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 10:30 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the the Muskogee Turnpike near mile marker 55, according to the OHP report.

Authorities said a 2013 Ford Expedition driven by 29-year-old Makailyn Ford of Van Buren collided with a 2015 Honda sedan driven by 31-year-old Hannah Ford of Osborn, Missouri.

Hannah Ford and her passenger, 39-year-old Megan Herrold of Fort Smith, were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Mansfield man pleads guilty to murder in 2023 infant death

Makailyn Ford and four children under the age of 7, all from Van Buren, were taken to St. Francis Hospital in Muskogee. Their conditions have not been released.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
