Fahey notified state police in May of his upcoming retirement, which went into effect on Aug. 1, Loughman said.
In addition to the unpaid suspension, Fahey also sustained a charge of conduct unbecoming.
The July 11 incident is still being investigated by the Town of Groton Police Department and the Windham State’s Attorney’s Office. Loughman noted state police will cooperate fully with that investigation.
