A Minnesota man has been charged with murder after fatally shooting a woman he allegedly thought was an alien.

According to Windom Police Department, officers responded to a report of a shooting on the 1400 block of 12th Avenue at around 5:15 a.m. last Wednesday. At the scene, officers found 70-year-old Kathryn Voelker, of Windom, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Before she died, she told police that 38-year-old Jamie Voelker "had called her and stated he needed help, so she went to his house," according to the criminal complaint.

Jamie Voelker is now charged with two counts of second-degree murder.

He was taken into custody after police found him in a blood-stained bathtub inside a neighboring home that he had broken into after the shooting.

According to the charges, Jamie Voelker, who was allegedly drinking the night before the shooting, woke up an individual (this person called 911 after the shooting) and he was talking bout aliens and how he thought Kathryn Voelker was an alien. When Jamie saw Kathryn enter the home, he fired numerous shots from a pistol.

An autopsy revealed that Kathryn was shot seven times and died from blood loss.
