Latest RB Updates
Omarion Hampton could feel the loss of right tackle Rashawn Slater to a season-ending patellar tendon tear more than anyone on the Chargers offense. Slater graded out as Pro Football Focus’ second-best tackle last season and eighth-best run blocker at the position. There is no replacing the impact he had on the offense. Hampton is still poised for a starring role in this offense, but Slater’s injury has caused me to move Hampton back into the high-end RB2 range.
Chase Brown scored the seventh-most fantasy points among running backs over the final 15 weeks last season, so it shouldn’t be surprising to see him moving in the RB8 spot in my rankings. Everyone in and around the team, including the coaching staff, continues to talk about Brown being an even bigger part of the offense this year. Barring injury, Brown has a chance to crack the top five at his position in 2025.
Cam Skattebo is expected to miss time after aggravating his hamstring injury, which firmly keeps Tyrone Tracy Jr. atop the Giants’ RB depth chart and moves him a few spots in my rankings. Missing reps in training camp is especially detrimental for rookies and delays any chance Skattebo has to carve out a role in the backfield. For the record, ESPN’s Jordan Raanan doesn’t believe there is a competition at all in New York.
