McCarthy returning to action after missing all of last season. New Jaguars head coach Liam Coen will also roll out his offense, though it's uncertain how much Trevor Lawrence will play in the preseason opener.

What to watch for on Saturday
Aaron Rodgers will not play in the Steelers' preseason opener, though he offered to participate. Mason Rudolph and Skyler Thompson will get the QB reps against the Jaguars.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid is known for playing his starters in preseason games, so Patrick Mahomes is expected to play but perhaps not the entire first quarter versus the Cardinals.
How much will No. 2 overall pick Travis Hunter play for the Jaguars, and how much time will he split between receiver and cornerback?
Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell typically doesn't play starters much in preseason, but J.J. McCarthy may need to get some reps after missing all of last season.
Dak Prescott has not played in the preseason since 2019, but Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer was vague on whether or not he would play and attempt to get some reps with new receiver George Pickens. With backup Joe Milton nursing a thumb injury, third-string QB Will Grier could get most of the snaps.
Titans coach Brian Callahan says everyone will play versus the Buccaneers, but how many snaps will No. 1 overall pick, QB Cam Ward, see on Saturday?
Jets QB Justin Fields says he wants to play all three preseason games, but new coach Aaron Glenn might not see it that way. If he approaches the preseason like Dan Campbell in Detroit, the starters won't play much at all.
Giants coach Brian Daboll wouldn't say if the starters would play against the Bills. But rookie Jaxson Dart will likely get most of the snaps at QB.
