
MADISON COUNTY, Ill. – Deputies from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office say they recovered a body in the Mississippi River near Interstate 270 on Monday.
According to a spokesperson from the sheriff’s office, deputies arrived at the river around 8 a.m. and spoke with employees from a construction company regarding reports of a body.
The workers led law enforcement to the body, which was floating in the river.
Detectives from the Madison County Sheriff’s Office, as well as the Madison County Coroner’s Office, retrieved the body and are working to identify the remains.
Officials say their investigation into this discovery remains ongoing.
