An affordable sedan can still be cool

Who says sedans are dead? The mainstream compact sedan segment battle is still a ferocious one, with four proven models battling it out. The 2025 Hyundai Elantra is one of the main contenders against the likes of the Honda Civic, the Nissan Sentra, and the Toyota Corolla. The Elantra pushes the envelope with dramatic body creases, and it even received a facelift in 2024 that takes it to a new level of styling refinement.

The 2025 Hyundai Elantra comes in five trim levels with the base SE starting at $22,125 and topping out with the N Line at $28,975. The wide black mesh grille is flanked by slim headlights and full-width LED daytime running lights. It’s complemented by full-width taillights and a nice decklid spoiler that’s integrated into the trunklid. Base-trimmed Elantras are powered by a 147-horsepower 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine mated to an Intelligent Variable Transmission. This combo makes for great efficiency for a non-hybrid sedan with EPA estimates of 32 city, 41 highway, and 36 combined. The Elantra is affordable and sensible, but Hyundai is offering a great lease deal in August that makes it even more appealing.

Final thoughts

The 2025 Hyundai Elantra is a handsome, fuel-efficient, roomy, and safe compact sedan. While it might not sell in the same numbers as the Civic or the Corolla, it’s worthy of consideration because it offers so much for so little. The August lease deal makes it very approachable for most households. Before signing the lease agreement, review the costs due at signing, including taxes and registration fees, potential dealer costs, etc.
