f1 grand prix of belgium practice & sprint qualifying

Haas F1 Team driver Ollie Bearman spent part of the break between F1 Grands Prix in Britain and Belgium on vacation in Sweden, and a brief foray to a local karting track turned into an intense quest.

Bearman was so determined to break the track record that he took several trips to the circuit, and enlisted the help of others, striving to cool the engine with leaf blowers, get the tires in the optimum condition, and even have someone drive in front of him briefly to pick up the slipstream.

Bearman, eventually, beat the track record and quipped that the unknown-to-him local should be in Formula 1. That local turned out to be Elton Zevenwacht, who has never professionally raced.

Zevenwacht, upon hearing Bearman’s exploits, returned to the circuit and duly lowered the record further.

No word on whether or not Bearman has put in for a little more vacation time for a return trip to Sweden.
