KENTUCKY (FOX 56) — Speed cameras are coming to some of Kentucky’s highway work zones.

Under a new state law, the cameras will catch speeders, but it’ll still be law enforcement doing the pulling over.

House Bill 664, passed earlier this year, lets cameras—not just officers—detect speeding.

Kentucky State Police said an officer will be waiting just past the work zone.

Officials hope it will cut down on the more than 1,300 work zone crashes reported last year.
