  • Lucid teased a new concept car that will be revealed at this Sunday's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

  • The concept is based on the Gravity Grand Touring, which spits out 828 horsepower from two electric motors.

  • The teasers show a futuristic-looking roof rack and unique, six-spoke wheels with red accents.

California-based startup Lucid Motors launched its second model this year with the Gravity. A follow-up to the beautifully engineered Air sedan, the Gravity is a streamlined SUV with plentiful range, copious amounts of horsepower, and a sleek look reminiscent of stone in a creek that's been smoothed out by centuries of flowing water. Now that Gravity deliveries are underway, Lucid is exploring new paths it can take with its SUV, teasing a Gravity-based concept car that will be revealed at this year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

Lucid didn't provide many details about the concept car in advance, but said it uses a Gravity Grand Touring as its base. The Grand Touring is the second-highest trim level, below the limited-production Dream Edition, and produces 828 horsepower from a pair of electric motors, good enough for this roughly 6000-pound SUV to blast from zero to 60 mph in a claimed 3.4 seconds. The Grand Touring's 123-kWh battery pack provides up to 450 miles of range.

The only other tidbit Lucid provided was a sentence describing the Gravity Grand Touring as "the ideal vehicle for every adventure," and together with a trio of teaser images, we think the concept will be focused on off-roading. The most telling image depicts a slim, futuristic-looking roof rack that hovers just above the roof, with thin, integrated LED spotlights.

The concept also appears to wear a unique set of wheels, with a blocky six-spoke design visible in another teaser image. One of the six cutouts in the wheels looks to be accented by a red outline, while the final image shows a chunkier side sill with "Pebble Beach | CA" and that town's latitude and longitude coordinates.

If the Gravity concept follows through on the all-terrain theme, we expect to also see beefier tires, underbody protection, and possibly wider wheel arches. We won't have to wait too much longer to find out what Lucid has cooked up, with the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance set for this Sunday, August 17.
