Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut retakes 0-249-0 mph record originally appeared on Autoblog.
Small Margin Of Victory
Koenigsegg has recaptured a coveted speed record from Rimac. In 2024, the Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut set a new 0-249-0 mph (0-400-0 kph) record of 27.83 seconds, but that was bested by the Rimac Nevera R earlier this year. That EV managed to get to 249 mph and back to zero in 25.79 seconds during a series of record attempts.
So Koenigsegg made some tweaks to the Jesko Absolut and sent it and factory test driver Markus Lundh to an airfield in Örebro, Sweden. On August 7, Lundh set a new record of 25.21 seconds, according to a Koenigsegg press release. That's a slim 0.58-second improvement over the Nevera R's time but, as Dominic Toretto says, a win's a win.
Software Improvements

The latest record attempt was made with the same car used in the 2024 record attempt, according to Koenigsegg, adding that the record was achieved on a drying surface following rainfall. Keep in mind that the Absolut is the low-drag version of the rear-wheel drive Jesko, lacking the active aero of the Jesko Attack version and thus having less overall downforce.
The Jesko's twin-turbocharged 5.0-liter V8, which produces 1,280 horsepower on regular gas (1,600 on E85 fuel) and 1,106 pound-feet of torque, was controlled by new software. Koenigsegg also made software changes to the car's Light Speed Transmission, a nine-speed gearbox with seven clutches for quicker gear changes.
"Our software engineers have been tweaking and adjusting the Light Speed Transmission and engine management system and have introduced a new torque control system which manages the grip of the Absolut like never before," company founder Christian von Koenigsegg said in a statement.
Updates Will Be Offered To Customers

Koenigsegg calls this package of updates "Absolut Overdrive" and plans to roll it out to customer cars. the production run of 125 cars—split between the Absolut and Attack configurations—sold out in 2022. That's despite an estimated $3 million asking price.
In 2020, von Koenigsegg said the Jesko Absolut would be the fastest car Koenigsegg would ever make, and he's been seeking to prove that. Lundh reached a top speed of 256 mph during his 2024 record attempt that's far short of the current record for production cars, but that's likely just a warm-up for an attempt to surpass the 300-mph barrier.
